Where money gets left behind

Self-Employed & 1099 Returns

Gig work · Contractors · Freelancers · LLC · S-corp

If you drive, deliver, contract, freelance, or run a shop, your return has moving parts a walk-in chain won't dig into. Business expenses are where money gets left behind, and where we spend our time.

Most people who file themselves aren't making mistakes. They're answering the questions the software asks, and the software doesn't ask about the things that would have saved them money.

Covers

  • Schedule C and self-employment tax
  • Business expense review and substantiation
  • Home office and vehicle deductions
  • Mileage reconstruction from platform records
  • Depreciation and equipment purchases
  • Partnership and S-corp returns
  • Quarterly estimated payment setup
  • 1099 filing for your own contractors

Prior-Year & Amended Returns

Behind by a year or by five

One of the most common reasons people call. Unfiled years don't fix themselves and the penalties compound, but the process is routine, and it starts with one conversation.

Covers

  • Multiple unfiled years, filed in the right order
  • Amended returns (Form 1040-X)
  • IRS transcript retrieval
  • Notice and letter response
  • Payment plan setup where needed

One unfiled year or five. Common, fixable, and cheaper the sooner it starts.

Common Questions

Tax preparation questions

How much does tax preparation cost in Oakland Park?

It depends on the return. A single W-2 is not the same job as a self-employed return with a home office, a vehicle, and equipment purchases. Pricing them the same means somebody is being overcharged or underserved.

The first conversation is free. We look at your situation, tell you what the work involves, and quote it before anything starts. No surprises on the invoice.

Do I have to come to the office?

No. We prepare and file returns for clients entirely online. You send documents from your phone or laptop and we walk through the return by phone or video before it's filed. Plenty of clients still prefer sitting across the desk in Oakland Park, and that's available too.

What documents do I need to bring?

Photo ID, Social Security or ITIN documentation for everyone on the return, all income forms (W-2, 1099), and last year's return if you have it. If you're self-employed, bring whatever expense records you keep, however messy.

We'll send a specific list once we know your situation. Don't wait until you have everything to reach out.

I haven't filed in a few years. Can you still help?

Yes, and you're not the first. Prior-year returns are routine work here. The longer they sit the more they cost, so the useful thing is to start. We'll tell you exactly what we need and handle the sequence.

I got a letter from the IRS. What now?

Most notices are routine and fixable, and the worst thing you can do is ignore it. Call us with the notice in hand. The letter number in the corner tells us what it is and what the deadline is.

Can I get part of my refund early?

Refund advances are available to qualified filers during the season, up to $7,000 the same day you file. The amount is not guaranteed and is subject to approval by the issuing bank, underwriting criteria, and the size of your expected refund. Not all applicants qualify, and terms and fees apply, so ask us for the full details before you file.
